Mochaware

Hey! This stuff’s interesting. Why didn’t you tell me about it? What? You did? OK.

Seriously, mochaware, a slip decoration technique from the 1700’s on, is really interesting. A good article on traditional ware can be found on colonialsense.com. Additional information is readily available online.

I saw some fine examples of this technique this past weekend at the Eastern NC Pottery Festival in New Bern. The effect was quite striking. I’ll try to get some photos posted. But in the mean time, if you aren’t acquainted with mochaware, check it out.
