In addition to ceramics, I’m iterested in metal fabrication. In the last year, I’ve learned some basic welding, which has been great. So, I’m always interested in seeing how-to’s on welding. Today, thanks to Makezine, I saw an article on brazing. Here’s the link…

Definitely worth a read. I think I’ll have to give this a try in the studio. I’ve had some discussions about integrating metal strips in pottery as decoration, so this might be a good tool to have in the bag.
I also liked what I saw at Upcraft.it. Nice wirtingstyle and very diverse range of content. Check it out while you’re there.
Cool! Or HOT, rather! I always have a hard time using flux, thinking it as a sort of butter that has got to coat the material in a small way but must interfere with the connection, to my way of thinking.
Have you ever been out to Gibbs Machine Shop on Pink Hill Highway?

Gerald is amazing and his shop is a total wreck with shavings accumulated and piles of scrap and junk –so much fun to walk around –Rockwell picturesque, complete with old, really old massive lathes and equipment first made when electricity was introduced. He’s a red neck gun nut but we appreciated each other, anyway.
All’s well! Loving the iMac and Keynote –really digging adding visuals to my sermons and services.
Sounds like a fun machine shop. I love shops like that. I’ll have to look them up soon.
Glad to hear Keynote’s working out!
