Cracked

It was inevitable that I would find out about kintsugi, the Japanese art of fixing broken pottery. So very cool. The idea is that the cracks are joined with an lacquer compound embedded with gold or silver dust (or something else), and in the process the repaired piece gains from the history of it’s changes. Here’s a link to a nice blog post on kintsugi.

I have to fix a tile, and that got me looking online for repair tips and techniques. Finding an entire art, complete with time-honored tradition was a true bonus. In my spare time, I’ll be looking into learning more about this. I can already tell it’s something I’m going to want to try. Anyone with suggestions, tips, experiences, etc., please leave a comment here. I’d appreciate it.
